Sherlock Bones 1 (Sherlock Bones #1)
by Yuma Ando, Yuki Sato (Illustrations)

DEDUCTIVE DOG DETECTIVE

When Takeru adopts his new pet, he’s in for a surprise—the dog is none other than the reincarnation of Sherlock Holmes, the famous detective. What’s more, this “Sherdog” has decided that Takeru is the reincarnation of his long-time assistant, Dr. Watson. Takeru may think Sherdog (or he himself) is crazy, but with no one else able to communicate with Holmes, he’s roped into becoming the canine’s assistant all the same. Using his exceptional sleuthing skills, Holmes uncovers clues to solve the trickiest crimes. Summary from Goodreads.
My thoughts…
I really liked this manga. The story, the plot, the interesting and some not human characters. This manga is great for anyone who enjoys murder mystery manga. It’s a great crime murder mystery manga mixed with comedy and some hella awkward situations. One of the things I loved was that one of the main characters is a talking super adorable dog. Who claims to be the reincarnation of Sherlock Holmes?! Crazy? No not at all. Because as the manga goes on it starts to make a lot of sense. I love Sherdog’s personality. I love how he has his smart moments where he’s solving crimes faster than you can dish them out. Then chasing his tail and sticks like a normal dog the next. I also love that Sherdog has a hat, cape and pipe which make him look super cute. Sherdog is smart, cunning, fierce, and adorable. His colleague Watson so Sherdog calls him although his real name is Takeru.u is an awesome, determined, kind of dense guy with really good instincts. Who just wants to go into the police force like the rest of his family. Takeru has a real good sense of character. He knows the good from the bad and wrong from right. He also knows a criminal when he sees one. Knowing is one thing proving is another. In the beginning you can tell that Takeru isn’t so confident in his ability to solve crimes. He didn’t even know for sure he wanted to be a detective until Sherdog. Sherdog really helped Takeru realize what he wanted to do with his life and what he is capable of. Solving crimes like a boss making other detectives who have been in the force longer jealous and kicking a little but along the way. I love that over the course of the manga you get to see how confident Takeru becomes in his ability as a detective. The changes and challenges he goes through are pretty cool to see. Another thing I really liked about this manga is that it challenged the main characters. Like as the manga series went on the mysteries and murders Sherdog and Takeru had to solve became increasingly harder to prove. Wither it was by evidence or who it was they were accusing. It really put their skills to the test. I also liked how the villains or bad guys became smarter too so it was more of a challenge for Sherdog and Takeru which they dealt with flawlessly. The author did a great job of challenging her characters. I really liked this manga. The story is easy to follow, the plot was full of drama which made it super interesting, and the characters were awesome. My favourite characters would have to be Sherdog, Takeru, and Takeru’s older sister Airin who has some of the best timing ever for walking into weird situations. If you have read the manga you know what I mean. If you have read this manga let me know what you thought about it and the detective duo.
