Umineko WHEN THEY CRY Episode 1: Legend of the Golden Witch, Vol. 1
by Ryukishi07 (Illustrations), Kei Natsumi (Visual Art)
Each year, the Ushiromiya family gathers at the secluded mansion of its patriarch, the elderly Kinzo. It has been six years since Battler joined his cousins at the annual event, but their happy reunion is overshadowed by worsening weather and an eerie premonition from his youngest cousin-not to mention their parents’ feud over the inheritance. Battler doesn’t hold much stock in dark omens, nor does he believe the tales of the witch rumored to have given his grandfather a fortune in gold…and who walks the halls of the mansion to this day… But when the eighteen family members and servants are trapped on the island by the raging typhoon, the grisly events that follow leave Battler shaken to his core. Is one of his relatives desperate enough to kill for the family fortune? Or is this the work of the Golden Witch? Summary From Goodreads.
Haganai: I Don’t Have Many Friends #1
by Itachi, Yomi Hirasaka (Original Story)
Recent high school transfer student Hasegawa Kodaka is pathetically inept at making friends. When he comes across the brash loner Mikazuki Yozora, who typically chats with her imaginary friend, the two outsiders become the unlikeliest of allies. Realizing that they have no hope of a normal social life, the two outcasts decide to form a group called “The Neighbor’s Club” in order to make friends and maybe even learn a thing or two about social skills. A wild and offbeat comedy about social outcasts who are obsessed with fandom. Summary from Goodreads.

I heard about “Haganai: I Don’t Have Many Friends”. I heard it was a funny series. I haven’t read the books or watched the anime but heard it was also good comedy series.

I heard about it ad well from a friend of mine. Me too which was why I thought I would add it to my list.

It looks like a good series. I seen some clips of the anime and I thought it was hilarious. I heard in the past that this series was compared to The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya because of the themes in it.
LikeLiked by 1 person
Oh really were they good apart from being funny. Really cool! That’s right the themes are kind of similar.

I will probably watch the anime first. I might wait on the books. I hear that the characters are weird but entertaining.

I’m not sure if I’ll watch the anime first or read the manga. That’s cool weird characters are usually the more entertaining ones.

Whatever you choose first, I hope you get a good laugh. Funny that you say that because that’s so true. Being normal is boring. I do like the plot of the story: bringing people in a club to make friends.
LikeLiked by 1 person
Thanks I hope I do as well. It is I’m not even sure I know what normal is. Yeah it’s not a bad idea and a not a bad way to make friends.
LikeLiked by 1 person
Normal is kind of a complicated word to define and break apart because everybody is different. Normal can be anything. I haven’t looked into specifically on the clubs activities but I hear that it’s not something you see in public schools.
LikeLiked by 1 person
It really is because at the end of the day everyone has their own definition of normal. It really can be anything. Hmm I wonder in what way.
LikeLiked by 1 person
I guess what will be NOT normal is being the opposite of who you are. Based on the clips I seen, the students in the club do bizarre things such as playing video games, one person plays a eroge visual novel, and learning about friendship from a “Boys Love” anime.
LikeLiked by 1 person
I guess so because normal is being yourself right. Sweet I’m all for a gaming club. Well that’s one way to learn about friendship.

A gaming club sounds fun but I would not want to play an adult visual novel with a group of people. One of the characters called it “art”. There was another moment in the anime where they played on the PSP and played a “Monster Hunter”-like game. They ended up fight among themselves instead of the monsters >_<.
LikeLiked by 1 person
That dies sound fun but the adult visual not so much. Lol I guess in a way it is. Oh cool! Lol well we can’t always agree as they have probably learned from that experience.

If you do enjoy the anime and plan to stick around, you should check out the second season. I hear it’s more funny because of the activities they do such as riding in a roller coaster.
LikeLiked by 1 person
Oh I love roller coasters! That sounds awesome. Maybe I will check it out as well.

It’s really funny. All the club members reacted differently in the roller coaster.

I want to see that so I shall watch both seasons in order to see it. I wonder how they reacted roller coasters aren’t for everyone.

I haven’t seen the anime but I would recommend it. I think you might like. Without going to details in the roller coaster moment, one of the girls was saying inappropriate sex talk during the ride.😂

I think I might like it too. Lol that should be funny to watch then.

I will don’t worry if it’s as funny as you said I won’t be able to keep it to myself. For long anyway.

I kinda want to buy the anime but looking at the price changes my mind. Every anime I want to see costs a lot haha.

Lol yeah that’s the one thing that rains on my anime parade. Price.

Yep, it’s about the moolah. It’s the one of the things fans hate. That or a series cancellation.

I dislike both a little to be honest but that’s just me.

Yeah that’s understandable. It could always be worse. There could be region restrictions or licensing issues or Japan not allowing anime be shared across the globe.
LikeLiked by 1 person
That would be terrible if that happened. I would be so sad no more anime.
LikeLiked by 1 person
That would be bad news for them too. Anime would stop if it never got spread out and shared. No viewers means no money for them.
LikeLiked by 1 person
Yeah it would be I didn’t think of that. Plus no money means no more production of anime. But I thought that Japan and China would still have a big enough fan base to keep it going. But still an animelss word is a sad one.

I forgot about China. If possible, China could help the anime industry but only certain anime can be viewed. I think it was last year, China blacklisted anime that was considered “inappropriate”. Anime like Attack on Titan is considered inappropriate according to China.
LikeLiked by 1 person
Really? But why they are just depriving people of awesome anime. And that itself is not okay. I mean with all the blood and gore it’s no walk in the park but it’s not that bad.
LikeLiked by 1 person
I forget but I heard from a friend that the Chinese think that image of a titan destroying a wall means breaking down government. I am not sure exactly but Attack on Titans is anime that should be avoided in China. I have a old post about anime being blacklisted but even Sword Art Online II is considered inappropriate. The Chinese have strict law on anime like this.

Wow I never knew that there was so much meaning behind a wall being broken down. How is SAO being Blacklisted I just don’t understand. The really seem to.
LikeLiked by 1 person
Well according to the laws, Chinese forbid any anime that has content like violence and sexual acts or nudity. I think that SAO II has some fanservice in it and they think it’s not right.
LikeLiked by 1 person
Wow that’s like almost all of the good anime. Yeah but the fan-service can’t be that bad now can it.
LikeLiked by 1 person
Yeah exactly, you miss out a lot. Here is the link to which anime is blacklisted:
http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2015-06-09/china-blacklists-attack-on-titan-death-note-36-more-anime-manga/.89055
I seen SAO II and the fanservice content compared to other fanservice anime is not too bad. Even it’s not full front nudity, I don’t SAO II shouldn’t is about that.

WOW that’s a lot of anime. But what I can’t believe is that they are denying people the BLACK BUTLER experience. They won’t ever know the magic and hotness of Sebastian. That’s just sad. I don’t either but just wow.
LikeLiked by 1 person
I know what you mean. They are going to miss out seeing Sebastian. I still haven’t seen it but I assume the anime only has violence.
LikeLiked by 1 person
They are that’s so sad. I mean yeah the anime has some violence okay quite a bit of violence and blood. And some okay most of the characters are pretty messed up. But it’s not as bad as some people make it out to be.
LikeLiked by 1 person
Really? It looks like an impressive anime. I figured the show was going to be violent but not extreme. China is really strict on what anime is shown. We are fortunate enough that we are able to watch it.
LikeLiked by 1 person
It is violent but I guess it’s to extreme for China. It is an impressive anime it’s one of my favorites actually. The story line is awesome and so are the characters as well. Yes we are.
LikeLiked by 1 person
I don’t even know what’s going on China right now. They might be expanding more anime on the list. Besides violence, anime that has ecchi or sexual themes are affected too.
LikeLiked by 1 person
Really wow soon they won’t be able to watch anything if they keep going like this. Yeah they are.
LikeLiked by 1 person
To be honest, I am not sure what kind of anime that is considered appropriate and doesn’t meet the list. If it gets worse, people may have to watch anime that’s designated for young teens.
LikeLiked by 1 person
Me either but China seems to know. Yeah I hope it doesn’t get that bad for them. I would feel bad for them if it did.

Yeah same here. I can’t imagine watching anime that has to approved first and then viewed. It would be like the days where kids had to get permission from parents if they can play rated T games.
LikeLiked by 1 person
Yeah and let me tell you those days were not in anyway fun.

It was a hard time back then lol. Kids were expected to play rated E games like Mario or Pokemon. When I was young, the highest rating I ever went was T. My first rated M game was Mortal Kombat.
LikeLiked by 1 person
Yeah it was. I had to borrow my brothers M rated games when my parents weren’t looking. Oh that’s a good game.
LikeLiked by 1 person
Really? Your brothers are cool for letting you play with them. My parents were strict about that. We could only play games that were rated M. Anything besides violence like Sexual Themes was definite no. The highest we got besides violence was language and suggestive themes.
LikeLiked by 1 person
Yeah they were so nice. Mine were too but we always found a way. Me too the highest I got was T until I was older.
LikeLiked by 1 person
Now that we are older, my parents allow us to get more rated M games except for GTA. They know all about it haha. If we ask for it, my parents will immediately say no. No second thoughts XD.

Mine too. I don’t really like GTA I played it a little cause my older bro has it but I don’t really like it. Because of the strip clubs. Lol .:) Shot down.

Oh yeah, the games do have those. My parents know about that, the prostitutes and the infamous hack on San Andreas. Anything about sex is not allowed in this house.
LikeLiked by 1 person
Yeah they do I don’t like that. Oh yeah the hack. Your parents know what’s up.

Yeah they do know. Funny that now we are living in a generation where kids can easily play rated M games like Call of Duty or GTA V.

I know right and I remember when I had to smuggle everything past my parents.

That sounds risky to do. I bet it was even harder to play them when are home.

It was but my brothers and I made a game out of it who can sneak it past faster. And without being caught.

Lol it kind of was but we lived for it. I have played it with my bros it was fun. What I can’t stand is horror games.

Scarecrow was creepy in the game. The last time I saw him Arkham Asylum, he was about to get killed by Killer Croc.

No but based on Arkham Knight, Scarecrow got his face scarred by Killer Croc.

What’s worse is that he was planning something big. He left a hint at Arkham City and it look like he was plotting his revenge ever since. Scarecrow may not be strong in fighting but he is smart.

Yeah he was. Yeah which if you ask me is a lot worse then being amazing at fighting. It’s hard to beat someone who’s good at fighting but it’s even harder to beat a smart person.

He was a fearsome foe. He took over Gotham all night. Thanks to him and the Arkham Knight, criminals ran wild.

I have the first volume of Haganai yet I haven’t read it. The anime was great though ^^ Also , I’ve been meaning to check out the Umineko manga (cause I heard the anime is downright terrible), as I loved Higurashi and hope the ‘sequel series’ can carry the torch.

Oh cool. When you do read it tell me what you thought. Awesome I was planning on watching that. I heard that but I also heard that some people thought it was good so I’ll see for myself. Tell me if it does.

Will do. I heard the mysteries were somewhat exciting, so yeah, we should both check it out sometime.
