GE – Good Ending! My thoughts so

GE: Good Ending is a one shot that follows main character Utsumi’s interactions with Kurokawa Yuki, a member of the school tennis team, in order for Utsumi to confess his feelings to the captain of the tennis team. It is implied that the title of the manga is derived from the “good endings” that are achieved in visual novels.

Due to a heavy response to this one shot, a follow-up full version was made five months after the original, which includes identical characters and settings. Summary from My Anime List. 

My thoughts so far…

I personally loved this manga it was really good. This isn’t the only one it’s one of many in a series. It follows the somewhat cliché I guess you could say main character in a love triangle plot. Caught between the girl who’s been helping him with his crush and the girl he has a crush on. Sounds like the typical story right? But don’t let that fool you because Good Ending tends to focus more on the darker side of their characters. Everyone has problems they have to deal with in this manga. But more so the heroine,  Yuki Kurokawa, her problems are very traumatizing in a way that’s really uncomfortable to deal with. Even when I was reading it as a reader I had to put it down and step away a few times.

To me this manga really shows that relationships can be a lot more complicated than ” I like you, you like me let’s date”. Because I think we all know that, that’s not always how it works. But they did a really good job with this idea in the manga because they deal with  this type of personal drama, without going into soap opera land. So because of this their characters are more complex and have more depth. Also side note before I finish this post Good Ending sometimes goes into ecchi territory occasionally but it’s not an ecchi manga. Those times it goes there usually signifies a serious point. You’ll understand what I mean if you decide to read the manga series. I think it’s good but it’s definitely not for everyone. I think I’m going to continue the manga series though because I would like to see what they do next.
