Individuals who can materialize weapons from their soul are called “Blazers,” and they attend Kouryou Academy High School in order to harness their abilities. Each student is required to partner with another, in the hopes that one day, the pair can attain the power of Absolute Duo.
Tooru Kokonoe hopes to attend this academy in order to gain power after his sister and friends were slain by a mysterious man. However, at the opening ceremony, he is forced to duel against the person sitting next to him, with the loser being expelled. As Tooru prepares to give the match his all, it is not a weapon that manifests from his soul, but a shield, an irregularity which catches the attention of a foreign student named Julie Sigtuna. Summary from My Anime List.
Originally I was thinking of reading the manga of Absolute Duo and I still will but I also wanted to watch the anime to be able to compare the two. I have not yet read the manga because I decided to start off with the anime. I have heard good and bad things about this anime as well as a lot of neutral opinions so I was really interested in watching it. Like the title of this post implies this anime is somewhat misleading. I have nothing against people who love raisin cookies, but it’s disappointing when you’re expecting chocolate and get something else. Which was exactly what this anime was.
The story was to me wasn’t all that good or very original It’s one of those I guess you could say stereotypical anime The plot is bland it needs some salt it’s just too stereotypical for my tastes. Is there a love story that goes absolutely nowhere? Yes. Is the school setting basic and bland? Yes. Unnecessary fanservice? YES! Not that I have anything against fanservice but there is only so much you can handle. Is the main character easily flustered by anything to do with girls? Ding ding ding you guessed it yes he is. Absolute due is just like your average action, harem anime. Well, it’s not all average the one difference would be that the characters are in a duo instead of being solo. Plus usually, almost every time that you’re in a duo your partner is of the same sex. But in this anime, the duo ends of being a girl and a boy, who have to share a room. Awkward? Yes very much so. This calls for a lot of accidental awkward moments and on top of theses moments, this anime is also a harem one. Which I don’t completely understand why that is because they are a duo.
Overall the action in the anime I don’t think is that bad like it’s not great but it’s not bad. Absolute Duo to me was just alright. Nowhere near being good but it’s not absolutely awful.
